Lookman Leads Nigeria Past Tunisia to Seal Knockout Spot

Ademola Lookman inspired Nigeria to a 3-2 victory over Tunisia, playing a role in all three goals as the Super Eagles booked their place in the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16.

The win was Nigeria’s first in three meetings with the Eagles of Carthage and extended their strong group-stage record at the finals.

Victor Osimhen opened the scoring just before half-time with a powerful header from Lookman’s cross after seeing an earlier effort ruled out for offside.

Nigeria tightened their grip early in the second half when captain Wilfred Ndidi headed in Lookman’s corner for his first international goal.

Lookman then capped a fine display with a composed finish midway through the half to make it 3-0, before Tunisia mounted a late fightback.

Montassar Talbi headed in from a free-kick and Ali Abdi converted a late penalty, but the Super Eagles held firm to secure the points.

The result confirms Nigeria’s progression to the knockout rounds, while Tunisia remain second in the group ahead of their final game against Tanzania.
