Love at First Sight? Not for Me – Joke Silva Opens Up on Meeting Olu Jacobs

Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva has shared the heartwarming story of how she met her husband, Olu Jacobs, revealing that while it was love at first sight for him, she needed time to warm up to the romance.

Speaking on TVC’s Your View, Silva recounted that their first meeting happened on a movie set. According to her, everyone on set was excited about the arrival of the celebrated actor—except her.

“Yes, we met on stage, and when we met on a movie set, everybody knew the great Olu Jacobs was coming, except me,” she said. “When he came, we got on very well, and I discovered his age only after we started dating because he looked so good. For him, it was love at first sight, but for me, it wasn’t.”

Silva revealed that she only learned Jacobs’ age after their relationship had begun, noting that his youthful appearance initially masked the 20-year age gap between them.

The couple exchanged vows in 1985 when Silva was 24 and Jacobs was 44. Their marriage, which has produced two children, has endured for decades, earning admiration within and beyond the entertainment industry.

Reflecting on the secret to their long-lasting union, Silva credited her husband’s patience and understanding as key pillars of their relationship.

“This older man allows you to get away with a lot of things,” she said, highlighting the grace and maturity that have sustained their bond over the years.
