Manchester United battled to a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town at Old Trafford, despite being reduced to 10 men before halftime.
Ipswich took an early lead when Jaden Philogene capitalized on a mix-up between Andre Onana and Patrick Dorgu to roll the ball into an empty net.
However, United responded swiftly as Sam Morsy turned Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick into his own net before Matthijs de Ligt scrambled in another set-piece moments later.
The hosts’ momentum was halted when Dorgu was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Omari Hutchinson, and Ipswich took advantage before the break as Philogene’s cross sailed past everyone into the bottom corner.
United, despite their numerical disadvantage, restored their lead just two minutes into the second half when Harry Maguire’s towering header found the net from a Fernandes corner.
Ipswich piled on the pressure late on, but United held firm to claim their first league win in four matches, while Ipswich remain five points from safety after their sixth defeat in seven games.
