MAN CITY HELD BY FOREST IN TITLE RACE SETBACK.
Manchester City suffered a damaging blow in the Premier League title race after
being held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest.
Pep Guardiola’s side twice went ahead through Antoine Semenyo and Rodri, but the
hosts fought back on both occasions to deny the champions victory and leave them
seven points behind leaders Arsenal, though City still have a game in hand against
Crystal Palace.
City dominated possession with 70 percent of the ball and fired 21 shots, yet their
inability to hold onto a lead again proved costly.
The champions have now dropped 13 points from winning positions this season.
Guardiola admitted the number of points lost from leading positions was significant
but maintained his side had performed well overall.
“It is a lot,” Guardiola said, referring to the dropped points. “But there are games that
maybe we didn’t deserve it.”
The City manager added that his side produced a strong performance across the 90
minutes and created many chances against a defensive opponent.
“We played, in general, good for 90 minutes,” he said. “We created a lot against a
team so defensive, a really good team, more dynamic.”
