Manchester United have agreed to sell Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea for £40m, a source confirmed on Thursday.
The 21-year-old winger’s departure ranks as the fourth most expensive sale in United’s history, behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku and Angel Di Maria.
Garnacho made 93 Premier League appearances for United and becomes the latest high-profile exit in a turbulent summer, following Marcus Rashford’s loan move to Barcelona.
Garnacho was among five players seeking to leave Old Trafford, alongside Rashford, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho.
He had already been frozen out by manager Ruben Amorim, with United enduring a winless start to the Premier League season before their humiliating League Cup exit to fourth-tier Grimsby Town.
