Manchester United open to £30m sale of Rasmus Hojlund amid Sesko pursuit

August 3, 2025

Manchester United are prepared to sell striker Rasmus Hojlund for £30m as they continue their pursuit of RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko.

The 21-year-old Dane, who scored twice against Bournemouth in Chicago on Wednesday, has publicly stated he wants to stay at Old Trafford, but the club’s transfer plans could alter his future.

United remain interested in signing Sesko, with Newcastle also in the race, although the Slovenian striker is thought to favour a move to Manchester.

Any arrival would likely push Hojlund down the pecking order, and United may need sales to stay within Premier League profit and sustainability rules after spending nearly £130m on Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha this summer.

Selling Hojlund for £30m would represent a financial loss on paper, as his ‘book value’ stands at £43m two years into his five-year contract.

But with squad reshaping underway, United are weighing exits to facilitate further signings and balance the books.
