MANCHESTER

Manchester United have reached a full agreement with Brentford to sign Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbeumo for a deal worth up to £71 million.

The Red Devils will pay £65 million up front, with a further £6 million in add-ons after weeks of negotiations.

The 25-year-old is expected to undergo his medical before flying out to the United States with the squad on Tuesday for their pre-season tour under new manager Ruben Amorim.

Mbeumo, who joined Brentford from Troyes in 2019, will become the club’s record sale. He produced career-best numbers last season, scoring 20 goals and providing eight assists across all competitions.

His efficiency in front of goal was also among the best in the Premier League, with a 23.53% shot conversion rate, bettered only by Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak.

Beyond his goal threat, Mbeumo was a pressing machine. He ranked third league-wide for ball recoveries in the final third and led the league in progressive carries that directly resulted in goals.

He is now set to become United’s third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon, as the club accelerates its rebuild under Amorim.
