Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca believes Cole Palmer has the potential to play a key role for the Blues, similar to how Mohamed Salah influences Liverpool.
The 22-year-old midfielder impressed in Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Wolves, helping to end their five-match winless streak with a composed performance.
Maresca praised Palmer’s growing influence beyond goals and assists, highlighting his leadership qualities in crucial moments.
“The second half against Wolves was one of his best performances since I arrived,” Maresca said. “He showed personality and was always asking for the ball when the team needed him.”
The Chelsea boss compared Palmer’s presence to Salah at Liverpool and Martin Ødegaard at Arsenal, emphasizing the need for such players in challenging situations.
Chelsea, currently fourth in the league, will face a tough test against defending champions Manchester City on Saturday as they continue their push for Champions League qualification.
