Tyrese Maxey and Philadelphia native Justin Edwards led the 76ers to a narrow 102-100 win over Boston on Tuesday.
Maxey scored 21 points, while Edwards delivered a perfect shooting night until his final miss, which set up Kelly Oubre’s decisive putback with 8.7 seconds left.
The win, achieved without injured star Joel Embiid, moved Philadelphia to 7-4 and gave them a 2-1 season edge over the Celtics, with all games decided by a combined four points. Jaylen Brown led Boston with 24.
Elsewhere, reigning champions Oklahoma City improved to an NBA-best 11-1 as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander posted 28 points and 11 assists in a 126-102 rout of Golden State. Chet Holmgren added 23 points and 11 rebounds.
In New York, Jalen Brunson hit 32 points and 10 assists as the Knicks beat Memphis 133-120, remaining unbeaten at home.
Toronto also claimed a 119-106 victory over Brooklyn, handing the Nets their 10th loss of the season.
