Kylian Mbappe is set to return from injury as Real Madrid aims to finish the job against
Manchester City in their Champions League last-16 second leg.
Real hold a commanding 3-0 lead from the first leg, with Mbappe now fit to feature at
the Etihad after missing the clash in Madrid.
“Mbappe is ready to play,” coach Alvaro Arbeloa said. “I cannot wait to see him
back… to score the goals he scores. Of course, he’ll be important.”
Jude Bellingham has also travelled with the squad as he recovers from a hamstring
issue, though he is not expected to play. “It is important to be around his team-
mates… he’ll be one of the leaders as he always is,” Arbeloa added.
Defender Antonio Rudiger highlighted the threat of Erling Haaland despite the
striker’s recent struggles. “He’s a world-class striker… I like this type of duel.”
Rudiger said.
Addressing criticism over his aggressive style, Rudiger added, “We all know I like to
be tough on the pitch, but I still have boundaries. I am a human being.”
Real are now favourites to eliminate City for a third straight season, with Mbappe’s
return, adding further firepower.
