Kylian Mbappé has matched Cristiano Ronaldo’s first-season goal tally at Real Madrid, calling it a “special” milestone after scoring twice in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Leganés.
The French forward has now netted 33 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions, an identical to Ronaldo’s tally from his debut 2009-10 season.
While Ronaldo went on to become Madrid’s all-time top scorer with 450 goals, Mbappé remains focused on silverware.
“We know what he means to Real Madrid and to me,” Mbappé told Real Madrid TV. “We talk, he gives me advice, but in the end, we have to win trophies here.”
Manager Carlo Ancelotti praised Mbappé’s growing influence, emphasizing his increasing involvement in Madrid’s play.
He previously stated that the Frenchman has the potential to match Ronaldo’s legendary numbers but must continue working hard to reach that level.
The victory temporarily put Madrid level with Barcelona at the top of La Liga, adding further intrigue to the title race.
