Mbappe, Rodrygo Fire Real Madrid Past Alaves

Kylian Mbappe and Rodrygo were on target as Real Madrid dug deep to secure a 2-1 away win over Deportivo Alaves, easing the pressure on head coach Xabi Alonso.

Mbappe opened the scoring midway through the first half, cutting in from the left to curl an unstoppable effort past Antonio Sivera after early misses.

Madrid almost doubled their lead soon after, but Jude Bellingham saw his goal ruled out for handball, while Thibaut Courtois preserved the advantage with a vital save before the interval.

The visitors failed to put the game beyond Alaves and were punished when Carlos Vicente equalised after the restart, with VAR overturning an initial offside call.

Madrid responded swiftly, Vinicius Junior bursting down the flank and supplying Rodrygo for a simple finish to restore the lead.

Real held on to claim only their third win in nine matches and extend their unbeaten away run to six, as Alaves slipped to another defeat against Los Blancos.
