Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has been sidelined with a left thigh injury, putting his participation in next week’s FIFA Intercontinental Cup final in doubt.
The French star was substituted during Real’s 3-2 Champions League win against Atalanta after scoring an early goal.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti initially described the issue as a minor overload in the lower pelvis but awaited further medical assessment.
Mbappe, who also netted in last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Girona, is expected to miss Saturday’s LaLiga clash against Rayo Vallecano.
His availability for the Intercontinental Cup final in Qatar next Wednesday remains uncertain.
Real Madrid will face either Pachuca of Mexico or Egypt’s Al Ahly, who compete in the semifinal on Saturday.
