Real Madrid have confirmed that Kylian Mbappe will wear the club’s iconic number 10 shirt starting next season, following Luka Modric’s move to AC Milan.
Mbappe, who joined on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, wore the number nine in his debut campaign, scoring 44 goals across all competitions.
Despite his prolific form, Madrid ended the season without a major trophy.
The 26-year-old French captain now inherits a shirt worn by some of the club’s greatest names, including Ferenc Puskas, Luis Figo, Clarence Seedorf, and Mesut Ozil.
Other notable No. 10s in the club’s history include Michael Laudrup, Robinho, and Gheorghe Hagi.
Mbappe’s switch comes as Real Madrid look to build a new era around the forward, who is expected to lead the line both domestically and in Europe.
