Lionel Messi’s personal bodyguard, Yassine Cheuko, has been prohibited from patrolling the touchline during Inter Miami matches as Major League Soccer takes full control of matchday security.
Cheuko, a former Navy SEAL, gained attention for his vigilance in protecting Messi, often intercepting pitch invaders attempting to approach the Argentine star.
However, MLS has now restricted his role to locker rooms and mixed zones, barring him from pitchside duties.
“They don’t allow me to be on the field anymore,” Cheuko told Spanish media.
“In seven years working in Europe, only six people invaded the pitch. Here in the USA, it has happened 16 times in just 20 months. There’s a huge problem—let me help Messi.”
