More than 15 years after his death, the legendary “King of Pop,” Michael Jackson, continues to reign supreme — this time as Forbes’ highest-paid deceased celebrity of 2025, with an estimated $105 million in pre-tax earnings.

According to Forbes, Jackson’s staggering posthumous income was largely driven by a blockbuster $600 million deal with Sony Music, in which his estate sold a 50% stake in his master recordings and publishing catalog.

Since his passing in 2009, Jackson’s estate has reportedly generated an incredible $3.5 billion, cementing his legacy as the most financially successful deceased entertainer in history.

His Broadway production, MJ: The Musical, has grossed nearly $300 million worldwide, while Michael Jackson ONE — his Las Vegas residency — celebrated a milestone of over 5,000 performances this year.

Other late music legends who made the Forbes list include Prince, John Lennon, and Bob Marley, with their estates collectively raking in $541 million over the past year. Dr. Seuss followed closely behind Jackson, claiming the second spot with $85 million in earnings fueled by strong book sales and Netflix licensing deals. Pink Floyd’s Richard Wright and Syd Barrett tied at $81 million each, thanks to Sony’s $400 million acquisition of the band’s catalog.

Jackson’s influence continues to transcend generations, with his estate expanding its empire through new projects. A biopic titled Michael, starring his nephew Jaafar Jackson, is set to premiere in April 2026 — expected to spark yet another surge in global interest and revenue for the pop icon’s legacy.
