MTN Nigeria Communications Plc has announced that its Chief Executive Officer, Karl Toriola, will take on an expanded role within the MTN Group as Vice President for Francophone Africa, while retaining his position as CEO of Nigeria’s largest telecoms operator.

In a statement filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited, the company’s secretary, Uto Ukpanah, confirmed that Toriola will now oversee MTN’s businesses in Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Benin Republic, and Congo Brazzaville.

“Dr. Toriola brings extensive experience to this role, having previously served as Vice President for West and Central Africa at MTN Group Limited,” the company noted.

Appointed as CEO of MTN Nigeria in 2021, Toriola will now combine both responsibilities.

The company also announced that Ferdinand Moolman, a non-executive director, will step down from MTN Nigeria’s board effective October 31, following his appointment as CEO of MTN South Africa from November 1. Moolman, a former CEO of MTN Nigeria, has held several senior leadership roles within the group.

“The board extends its gratitude to Mr. Moolman for his invaluable service to MTN Nigeria and wishes him success in his new position,” the statement added.

Despite these leadership changes, MTN Nigeria emphasized that the board remains committed to driving growth and creating sustainable long-term value for shareholders and stakeholders.
