Napoli Sweep Aside Fiorentina to Extend Perfect Start

NAPOLI

Defending champions Napoli underlined their Serie A title credentials with a commanding 3-1 win over Fiorentina, stretching their unbeaten away run in the fixture to eight matches.

Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa was fouled by Pietro Comuzzo, before Rasmus Højlund doubled the lead with a composed finish from Leonardo Spinazzola’s pass.

The pair continued to trouble Fiorentina, with De Bruyne forcing David de Gea into a sharp save before half-time.

Napoli killed the contest early in the second half when Anguissa kept a corner alive and squared for Sam Beukema to tap in at the far post.

Even Scott McTominay had chances to add to the tally, though his effort lacked conviction. Luca Ranieri’s late consolation offered little comfort for Fiorentina, who fell to their first defeat of the season.

Antonio Conte’s side, by contrast, are flying. Three straight league wins mark their best start since 2021/22, with Manchester City up next in the Champions League.
