NCAA Urges AGF, IGP To Probe, Prosecute KWAM1

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has called on the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to investigate and prosecute renowned musician, King Wasiu Ayinde, over an incident involving domestic carrier, ValueJet.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by Mr. Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection.

According to the statement, the incident which took place on Tuesday allegedly disrupted normal flight operations and sparked concerns about passenger behaviour and compliance with aviation safety rules.

Preliminary findings, the NCAA said, indicated that Ayinde, widely known as K1 De Ultimate, engaged in actions during ValueJet flight VK201 that contravened the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs).

“While a full account of the event is still being compiled, the NCAA underscores the need to maintain strict safety protocols in aviation and ensure accountability, regardless of a person’s status,” the statement read.

The aviation regulator noted that in a formal letter to the AGF and IGP, it requested a thorough criminal investigation and, if warranted, prosecution in line with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 and other applicable laws.

It further revealed that the Director-General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, has advised the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) to consider placing K1 De Ultimate on a temporary no-fly list for commercial flights pending the conclusion of the probe.

According to NCAA, such a measure aligns with international best practices aimed at safeguarding passengers, crew members, and overall airline operations.

“The NCAA reaffirms its stance that no person — irrespective of influence or public profile — should compromise the integrity of Nigeria’s aviation sector. All passengers are expected to adhere to the same standards of conduct and safety within our airspace.

“Additional information will be made available as investigations continue,” the statement added.
