Newcastle United have sealed the club’s biggest signing yet with the capture of German striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for a fee rising to £69m.
The 23-year-old, who stands at 6ft 6in, has signed a long-term deal and will wear the number 27 shirt.
His arrival surpasses the £63m Newcastle spent on Alexander Isak in 2022, making him the most expensive player in the club’s history.
Woltemade, however, will not feature against Leeds United on Saturday as he was not registered in time.
His addition comes at a critical moment, with uncertainty surrounding Isak’s future as the Swedish forward continues to push for a move to Liverpool.
Speaking after his unveiling, Woltemade expressed excitement at joining the Premier League: “It already feels like family here.
From my first talks with the club, I knew this was the right step for me. The stadium and atmosphere are incredible, and I can’t wait to score goals for Newcastle.”
Manager Eddie Howe hailed the signing, calling him a perfect fit: “Nick is exactly the type of striker we wanted. He has quality, presence, and potential. He will only improve with us.”
The Magpies now look to their towering new forward as they prepare for the battles ahead, with Woltemade expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the club’s ambitions this season and beyond.
