Newcastle United made it six wins in a row in all competitions with a dominant 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace at St James’ Park, tightening their grip on a top-five Premier League spot.

Jacob Murphy opened the scoring with a sharp finish, before an own goal from Marc Guehi and strikes from Harvey Barnes and Fabian Schar put the hosts 4-0 up by halftime. \

Alexander Isak added a fifth with a well-taken finish after the break.

Eberechi Eze missed a first-half penalty for Palace, who were outclassed throughout and offered little resistance.

Newcastle’s emphatic win gives them a five-point cushion in the top five ahead of a key clash with Aston Villa.
