Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, landed in Luanda on Sunday ahead of the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket, which runs from August 12 to 24.

A final 12-man roster, unveiled a day earlier, features NBA shooting guard Josh Okogie of the Houston Rockets, defensive ace Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, veterans Talib Zanna and Stan Okoye, and guard Mike Nuga.

Caleb Agada will orchestrate play, while Christian Mekowulu, Devine Eke, Martins Igbanu, Ugo Andrew Simon, Emmanuel Omogbo, and Ike Nwamu complete the squad.

Fola Fayemi, Kareem Joseph, Mohamed AbdulSalam, and ineligible Peter Olisemeka missed out.

Head coach Mohammed Abdulrahman will lead the 2015 champions, with Okoye and Nwamu serving as co-captains.

Nigeria face Madagascar on August 13, defending champions Tunisia on August 15, and Cameroon on August 17 in Group B.

The knockout stage begins August 18, with the final set for August 24 at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Luanda.

D’Tigers, who crashed out early in 2021 after a shock loss to Uganda, are aiming for just their second continental crown, a decade after their first.
