Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has disclosed that she tracked down and arrested the woman who secretly filmed her at the gym, leading to a wave of online mockery and body-shaming earlier this year.
Speaking on a trending episode of the Honest Brunch Podcast, the actress detailed how she pursued the culprit after the viral video surfaced. Blessing revealed that the gym management initially refused to release the woman’s details.
“iFitness hid her information from me… I found her. I got her arrested, of course,” she said, noting that she was determined to hold the individual accountable for invading her privacy.
Before addressing the arrest, Blessing criticised those who mocked her appearance in the video, which showed her tired and without makeup during a workout. She defended her natural body while calling out women who compared her to surgically enhanced figures.
“You get BBL, you dey snap me wey get natural body. Are you stupid, sis?” she remarked, dismissing the unrealistic standards placed on celebrities.
The actress stressed that her gym attire and appearance had nothing to do with public validation. “This is who I have been. I wear the clothes that make me feel comfortable. I’m not trying to hide from nobody,” she said, adding that she had no intention of looking picture-perfect while exercising.
Nkechi Blessing became the centre of intense social media discussion earlier in the year after the unauthorized footage circulated widely. She previously responded on Instagram, stating that her goal at the gym was to stay fit and healthy, not to stage a “fashion show.”
Although she said she could have taken legal action earlier, Blessing initially decided to leave the matter “in the hands of God.” Since then, she has embraced body positivity, launching an online challenge encouraging women with big stomachs to love their natural bodies.
