Nnamdi Azikiwe University Elects New Deputy Vice-Chancellors for Academic, Administration

Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has elected new Deputy Vice-Chancellors for Academic and Administration following a Senate meeting held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

Prof. Alex Chinwuba Asigbo of the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies was elected as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), while Prof. Hilda Osisioma of the Department of Business Administration emerged as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).

The elections took place during the 242nd meeting of the University Senate at the Zephaniah Madubuko Auditorium, Faculty of Social Sciences. The session was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie.

Before his election, Prof. Asigbo served as the Director of UNIZIK Commercial Ventures and previously held office as Dean of the Faculty of Arts. He is widely regarded for his extensive academic and administrative experience, which the university community believes will strengthen academic leadership.

Prof. Osisioma, prior to her emergence, had served as the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Coordinating) for three months, providing administrative leadership and ensuring institutional stability during the period.

Their election is expected to further reinforce the university’s academic and administrative framework in line with its commitment to discipline, self-reliance, and excellence.
