The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has reported that its cumulative revenue reached N4.655 trillion by August 2025, up from N4.406 trillion in July, even as production of crude oil and natural gas dipped due to scheduled maintenance activities.

In the August report, profit after tax surged to N539 billion, a sharp rebound from N185 billion recorded in July.

The company also disclosed that statutory payments to the government increased, rising from N7.96 trillion in the first half of the year to N8.86 trillion by the end of July.

Operational data accompanying the revenue report showed that crude oil and condensate production averaged 1.65 million barrels per day in August, a decline from 1.7 million barrels per day in July.

Similarly, natural gas output fell from 7,722 million standard cubic feet per day in July to 6,949 million standard cubic feet per day in August.

Regarding sales, crude oil and condensate sales dropped to 22.37 million barrels in August from 25.49 million barrels the previous month, while gas sales declined to 4,201 million standard cubic feet per day from 4,978 million in July.

The company attributed the drop in production and sales to turnaround maintenance on certain upstream installations, aligned with the maintenance schedule of Nigeria LNG.

On infrastructure projects, NNPC disclosed that the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano pipeline advanced from 83 % to 84 % completion in August, and that the Obiafu–Obrikom–Oben pipeline remained operational, with about 113 km already commissioned and approximately 300 million standard cubic feet per day of gas flowing from producers including AHL, Platform, Chorus, and Xenergi.

In the downstream sector, the “wetness level” at NNPC retail fuel stations improved from 70 % in July to 76 % in August, indicating better availability and fuel delivery.

Beyond production and infrastructure, NNPC highlighted its social responsibility initiatives, reporting that 60,231 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members were trained in financial literacy during August, bringing the number trained year-to-date to 930,614.

The company also sponsored the Code4Privacy Hackathon, in partnership with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, which involved 141 young Nigerians.

The report did not provide new updates on the status of the nation’s refineries, which NNPC had previously indicated were under review.
