Novak Djokovic secured his 99th career French Open victory with a commanding 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 win over Austrian qualifier Filip Misolic on a memorable Saturday evening in Paris.

While 40,000 fans gathered to watch the Champions League final on screens nearby at the Parc des Princes, the 38-year-old Serbian maestro displayed his trademark blend of power, precision, and control on Court Philippe Chatrier.

A three-time French Open champion chasing a record 25th Grand Slam title, Djokovic faced stiff resistance from the 23-year-old Misolic.

Although Djokovic failed to convert nine early break points, he eventually broke through for a 4-2 lead, showcasing remarkable defensive skills to fend off a relentless assault of smashes.

The match’s most poignant moment came when Djokovic, displaying sportsmanship beyond the scoreline, helped Misolic to his feet after a fall left the Austrian’s shirt soaked in clay.

Yet, the Serb quickly refocused, breaking serve with a precise backhand winner to take a commanding two-set advantage.

Unfazed by the fireworks and cheers emanating from the Champions League final across the street, Djokovic maintained his composure and rhythm to close out the match in straight sets.

His next challenge will be against Britain’s Cameron Norrie in the fourth round.
