The Obidient Movement has launched a nationwide campaign to combat election rigging ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At the campaign’s unveiling in Abuja, the group’s National Coordinator, Tanko Yunusa, introduced the rallying slogan: “A New Nigeria is Possible – Get Your PVC & GO MERD” with GO MERD meaning Get Organised – Make Election Rigging Difficult.
He explained: “Our target is clear. In every polling unit, every Obidient will lead or join a bloc of at least 100 Nigerians all with Permanent Voter’s Cards. We will secure 100 per cent PVC ownership in these blocs, go door-to-door for voter registration, and recruit 1,500 credible, values-driven leaders to contest for public office.”
The strategy also involves deploying one million trained vote protectors on election day, using technology for real-time monitoring, and mounting proactive resistance against attempts to undermine the electoral process.
Yunusa outlined the movement’s vision of a New Nigeria where food is affordable, healthcare is functional, schools prepare young people for the future, rural economies are connected to markets, women enjoy equal opportunities, businesses thrive without harassment, and the diaspora can return with pride.
He stressed: “Our citizens are not just leaders of tomorrow. They are on the frontlines today, confronting insecurity, economic hardship, and systemic injustice. The 2027 elections are our turning point.”
The campaign urged supporters to obtain their PVCs or assist at least 10 others in doing so, form or join voting blocs via Obidients.com, mobilise family and friends, volunteer as vote defenders in their polling units, and participate in rallies, town halls, and community outreach.
“We are done spectating. The tools are here, now it’s time to turn them into victory,” Yunusa added.
