Oborevwori Signs Delta Electricity Bill, Six Others into Law

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has signed seven bills into law including the Delta State Electricity Power Sector Bill, 2024 which he characterized as a major catalyst for industrial growth in the state. The Governor stressed that the new electricity law would open the state to investment opportunities in power generation, transmission and distribution—adding that reliable electricity supply is necessary for sustainable development and industrialisation.

Other laws signed include the Delta State Physical and Regional Planning Law, the Delta State Film and Video Censor’s Board Law, the Registration and Regulation of Private Veterinary Clinics (Amendment) Law, the Child Rights (Amendment) Law, the Delta State Pet Control and Responsible Ownership Law and the Delta State College of Health Technology, Ovrode Law—all enacted in 2024.

Governor Oborevwori lauded the State Assembly for its legislative determination to the MORE Agenda—stating that the newly signed laws are vital for enhancing the quality of life and driving socio-economic advancement in Delta State.
