The 9th edition of the Lagos Women run is done and dusted. The event which took place on Saturday November 9, 2024 ended with so much fun and fulfilment both on the parts of the organizers and participants. The 9th edition was won by Joy Abiye David who had also won a previous edition of the race. Joy Ebiye is a native of Okitipupa in Ondo State and had won a previous edition of the Lagos women run making the 2024 edition her second time of winning the race.
The winner of the 10km race, Joy Abiye David finished the race in a record time of 38:35:21 to win the first position ahead of Liliane Nguesta from Cameroon who finished with a time of 40:02:54. The third position went to Charity Ogofure with a time of 40:09:23. It was a race full of fun from the starting point at the Tafawa Balewa Square to the Finish line at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena (former Onikan stadium)
One of the women who participated in the race told thebeacon’s reporter after the race that “we are all winners even if not in the top three. Finishing the race and also earning your certificate gives everyone a winning story to tell.”
