Four-time Grand Slam champion, Naomi Osaka has reaffirmed her passion for tennis, declaring her excitement for the upcoming season as she gears up for the Australian Open.

Speaking at the Auckland Classic, the 27-year-old Japanese star reflected on a challenging year marked by injury setbacks and mixed results since returning to the court in January after giving birth to her daughter, Shai, in 2023.

“2024 humbled me, but it also made me grow,” Osaka admitted. Despite the struggles, including two painful quarter-final losses and an early-season injury, her determination remains unshaken.

“I worked harder than ever before, and although the results didn’t always come, I’m excited for what’s ahead. I love stepping on the court and learning something new every day,” she shared.

Currently ranked 58th, Osaka is motivated by her competitive spirit and a renewed desire to face the world’s best players.

“Winning tournaments, battling top opponents, and seeing what I can achieve keeps the fire alive,” she said, emphasizing her drive to climb back to the top.

Osaka also credited her family and daughter for reigniting her passion for the sport.
“Having time with my family gave me space to realize my deep love for tennis. I want to see where that love can take me,” she revealed.

However, the former world No. 1 was candid about her limits, stating she would prioritize family if she couldn’t meet her competitive standards.

“I respect others on tour, but if I’m not at the level I believe I should be, I’d rather spend time with my daughter,” she concluded.
