Oyebanji To APC: Brace Up, Avoid Violence Ahead Of 2026 Election

August 23, 2025

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has called on members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to intensify efforts in mobilising support for the party ahead of the June 2026 governorship election.

Speaking in Ado Ekiti during the formal presentation of the APC expression of interest and nomination forms purchased for him by the Ekiti State University (EKSU) Alumni Association, the governor cautioned party faithful against complacency, stressing that if they failed in their responsibilities, non-political groups could step in to fill the vacuum.

He urged members to maintain peace as political activities gather momentum, warning against retaliation when provoked.

“Politics is on, and they are going to annoy you, lie about you, and try to incite conflict. Please don’t fight with anybody. What they are trying to do is to draw you out for a fight to make themselves popular. They cannot take us out on our performance,” Oyebanji said.

The presentation of the forms came just four days after the EKSU Alumni Solidarity Group for BAO purchased them at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja. Leaders of the association explained that the gesture was inspired by the governor’s performance in office, which they want him to consolidate in a second term.

Oyebanji, who described the honour as a “wake-up call” for him and other politicians, said it was a reminder that citizens are watching their conduct closely.

He expressed gratitude to the alumni association and assured them of his administration’s continued commitment to creating an enabling environment for the university and the state at large.

The governor also dismissed attempts by political opponents to discredit his administration and the Federal Government in the state, insisting that Ekiti people recognise his achievements and will not be swayed by distractions.
