Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, has admitted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) erred in presenting former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate in the 2023 general election.
Moro, who represents Benue South Senatorial District, made the remark on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
“Going by the outcome of the election and the verdict of Nigerians, fielding Atiku was indeed a mistake,” he said. “To lose such a monumental election in that fashion is certainly regrettable.”
The PDP was defeated in the 2023 polls by the All Progressives Congress (APC), whose candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emerged president while Atiku came second.
Nearly two years after the loss, Atiku has resigned from the PDP but is yet to declare his next political move.
