Just six days after clashing in the FA Cup, Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea lock horns once again, this time in a Premier League showdown at the Amex Stadium on Friday night.
Match Preview
Brighton enter the fixture buoyed by their 2-1 cup victory over Chelsea, a much-needed boost after back-to-back league defeats, including a crushing 7-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.
However, their league form remains a concern, with just two wins in their last 12 top-flight matches. The Seagulls are also winless in their previous five home league games since their impressive 2-1 victory over Manchester City in November.
Chelsea, on the other hand, saw their FA Cup hopes dashed in their weekend visit to the Amex. With domestic cup dreams over, Enzo Maresca’s side turn their attention back to securing a top-four finish and Champions League qualification.
The Blues currently sit fourth but hold a slim two-point lead over Manchester City and Newcastle. Their recent away form, however, has been shaky, failing to win any of their last four league games on the road.
Team News:
Brighton could be without Lewis Dunk, who suffered a rib injury in the FA Cup clash. Pervis Estupiñán and Mats Wieffer remain doubtful, while Jason Steele, Ferdi Kadıoğlu, Igor Julio, James Milner, and Solly March are all sidelined.
Meanwhile, new signing Diego Gómez is pushing for a start after an impressive cameo last weekend.
Chelsea will be without Wesley Fofana, Benoît Badiashile, Roméo Lavia, Omari Kellyman, and Marc Guiu due to injuries, while Mykhaylo Mudryk continues to serve a provisional doping ban.
Reece James is set to return after being rested at the weekend, and Nicolas Jackson faces six weeks out with a hamstring issue.
Possible Lineups:
Brighton: Verbruggen; Veltman, Van Hecke, Webster, Lamptey; Baleba, Gomez; Minteh, Rutter, Mitoma; Pedro
Chelsea: Jorgensen; James, Adarabioyo, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Madueke, Palmer, Sancho; Nkunku
