In a recently released statement, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited announced that the Port Harcourt refinery has officially begun processing crude oil. This achievement marks a significant milestone, heralding a new era of energy independence and economic growth for the nation.

Additionally, there are reports circulating on social media from an NNPC official indicating that truck loading may commence on November 26, 2024. The NNPCL expressed appreciation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s steadfast leadership in enhancing the energy sector, stating, “Hearty congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the NNPC Board, and the exceptional leadership of GCEO Mele Kyari for their unwavering commitment to this transformative project. Together, we are reshaping Nigeria’s energy future!”

It’s important to note that there have been multiple missed deadlines regarding the operational status of the Port Harcourt refinery. Many Nigerians have grown skeptical about the prospects of progress, especially after the NNPCL has repeatedly postponed the resumption of production at the facility. At one point, the contractor responsible for the repairs boldly stated that the completion date is not intended to be disclosed, raising concerns among stakeholders about the transparency of such a significant project
