PSG HUMILIATED BY TURMOIL-TORN RENNES.
Stade Rennais, in turmoil and without a permanent manager, ended their four-match losing
streak in all competitions in stunning fashion by defeating Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 at Roazhon Park.
Caretaker Sébastien Tambouret made several changes following the exit of Habib Beye, but
Rennes’ stars stepped up.
Esteban Lepaul rattled the post early, while goalkeeper Brice Samba kept the hosts in the game
with key saves, including a fine stop from Désiré Doué.
Rennes took the lead just before half-time as Musa Al-Taamari raced past PSG’s defence, cut
inside Willian Pacho, and slotted home for his third Ligue 1 goal of the season.
Despite Ousmane Dembélé’s close-range header pulling PSG level soon after the hour, Rennes
refused to relent.
Sebastian Szymański whipped in a cross that Lepaul met with a powerful header to restore
Rennes’ advantage.
In stoppage time, a lightning counterattack ended with Ludovic Blas squaring for Breel Embolo, who bundled the ball home to seal a remarkable 3-1 win.
The result ends Rennes’ four-match losing streak against PSG and halts the Parisians’
seven-game league winning run, leaving PSG stunned.
