Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti dismissed concerns over fan boos during his team’s dramatic 5-2 extra-time win against Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey round of 16.
The home crowd expressed frustration following the team’s recent 5-2 Spanish Super Cup loss to Barcelona.
Ancelotti acknowledged the fans’ displeasure as a “wake-up call” but praised his players for their resilience.
Real Madrid let a 2-0 lead slip late in regular time, with Celta equalizing to force extra time. Teenager Endrick emerged as the hero, scoring twice to secure Real’s spot in the quarter-finals.
“The boos were justified and served as motivation. We reacted well, and the fans pushed us when we needed it most,” Ancelotti said post-match.
Ancelotti highlighted defensive lapses in the final minutes and called for better focus. “We gave away two goals due to errors that should not happen,” he added.
Real Madrid join Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and others in the quarter-finals, with the draw set for Monday.
