Remo Stars staged a thrilling late comeback to beat El Kanemi Warriors 2–1 in Abeokuta on Monday, snapping a five-game losing streak in all competitions.
The visitors took the lead in the 58th minute when Jonas Emmanuel headed home from close range, punishing the hosts who had dominated the first half but failed to convert their chances.
Victor Mbaoma hit the crossbar before the break, while Olamilekan Adedayo and Adama Goita were both denied by fine saves.
With head coach Daniel Ogunmodede away on national duty, assistant Sulaimon Kamil made bold attacking changes, bringing on Haruna Hadi and Samson Olasupo to inject urgency.
The move paid off as Mbaoma won and converted a penalty in the 87th minute before Michael Ibe struck a dramatic 95th-minute winner after a goalkeeping error.
The result lifted Remo Stars to 16th place with 13 points and two games in hand, easing pressure after a difficult spell. They next host Enugu Rangers on Thursday.
Elsewhere, Rivers United defeated Kun Khalifat 1–0 away through Maclyn Biokpo’s 78th-minute strike, moving Finidi George’s side into fourth place, three points behind leaders Nasarawa United.
Plateau United also earned a 1–0 home win over Bendel Insurance courtesy of Saka Gafar’s goal, leaving the visitors winless in seven and piling pressure on coach Kennedy Boboye.
