Remo Stars will be officially crowned champions of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League today when they host Southwest rivals Ikorodu City in Ikenne, wrapping up a historic campaign in front of their home fans.

The Sky Blue Stars clinched their maiden NPFL title two weeks ago with a 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes, sealing the championship with three games to spare.

While their momentum briefly faltered in a midweek loss to El-Kanemi Warriors, the stage is now set for a festive coronation in their penultimate match of the season.

However, their opponents will not be mere spectators. Ikorodu City, fourth in the standings and chasing a CAF Confederation Cup spot, arrive in Ikenne with their own ambitions and just a point behind third-placed Abia Warriors.

A positive result in Ikenne would boost their already-impressive debut top-flight campaign.

Remo Stars, sitting on 68 points, aim to end the season in style and increase their tally on what promises to be a day of celebration and spectacle.

Nigerian artiste Shoday will perform at the title presentation, while the club has announced free entry for fans wearing the Remo Stars jersey and issued a traffic advisory for attendees.

NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye, who will be present for the trophy handover, lauded the champions for their dominant season, particularly their away form.

With today’s ceremony, Remo Stars become the first Southwest club to lift the NPFL title since Julius Berger in 2000.
