SABALENKA, SINNER ADVANCE IN MIAMI OPEN.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner continued their charge at the
Miami Open with commanding wins, while several seeds crashed out in a dramatic
round of matches.
Sabalenka eased into the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Zheng Qinwen
and will face Hailey Baptiste, who defeated Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 6-4.
Coco Gauff also advanced after a hard-fought 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win over Sorana Cirstea,
while Karolina Muchova thrashed Alexandra Eala 6-0, 6-2.
In the men’s draw, Sinner brushed aside Corentin Moutet 6-1, 6-4 to reach the last
16, where he will meet Alex Michelsen, who came from behind to beat Alejandro
Tabilo 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Defending champion Jakub Mensik was knocked out in a gruelling 7-6(4), 4-6, 7-
6(11) defeat to Frances Tiafoe.
Daniil Medvedev also exited after losing to Francisco Cerundolo, while Ugo Humbert
advanced with a 6-4, 7-6(2) win over Alexander Shevchenko.
