Saudi’s ‘Sleeping Prince’ dies after 20 years in coma

Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, known as the “Sleeping Prince” of Saudi Arabia, has passed away at the age of 36, nearly 20 years after he fell into a coma due to a car accident in London.

As reported by TheSunUK, the tragedy occurred in 2005 while he was enrolled in a military college in the UK, where he experienced a brain hemorrhage. His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, announced his death on Saturday, expressing his sorrow on social media.

“With faith in Allah’s will and with profound sadness, we mourn our cherished son: Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may Allah grant him mercy,” the grieving father wrote.

After the accident, Prince Al-Waleed was moved to King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, where he remained under constant medical care and life support for the last two decades.
