Nottingham Forest are closing in on the appointment of Sean Dyche as their new manager following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, with a deal expected to be finalised on Monday.
Dyche has emerged as the leading candidate after holding positive talks over the weekend, with sources telling BBC Sport that his chances of landing the job have “improved significantly.”
The 53-year-old is seen as the club’s preferred choice to stabilise a turbulent season that has seen Forest drop into 18th place with just one win from eight Premier League games.
Postecoglou’s dismissal came just 17 minutes after Saturday’s 3–0 defeat to Chelsea, a result that deepened the crisis at the City Ground.
Forest’s hierarchy have been eager to move swiftly to secure an experienced replacement capable of tightening the team’s defensive structure and steering them away from relegation danger.
While Roberto Mancini and Fulham’s Marco Silva were also considered, both options have proven difficult.
Mancini’s candidacy has reportedly cooled, and Silva’s significant release clause, coupled with doubts about leaving Fulham mid-season, has made his appointment unlikely.
As it stands, Dyche is the “standalone candidate,” with negotiations expected to accelerate ahead of Forest’s next fixture.
Should the deal be completed, it would mark Dyche’s first managerial role since leaving Everton earlier this year.
