Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello of plotting to assassinate her. She made the accusations during a homecoming rally on Tuesday in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State where she addressed a large crowd of supporters.
Akpoti-Uduaghan who spoke in Ebira and English, claimed that Akpabio and Bello held a secret meeting to discuss her elimination, allegedly due to her growing political influence. She asserted that on March 13, Akpabio called Governor Usman Ododo to push for her recall but Ododo refused—citing her strong grassroots support. She further alleged that Akpabio then contacted Bello—offering to fund the recall and suggesting that she be assassinated in Kogi State to deflect attention from the federal level.
Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed that she had reported the alleged plot to the Inspector General of Police. As of press time, neither Akpabio nor Bello has publicly responded to the allegations and the police are yet to confirm receiving a formal petition.
