Senegal Accuse Morocco of Disrupting Final Preparations in Rabat
Senegal have accused hosts Morocco of deploying a strategy aimed at disrupting their
preparations for Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations final.
In a statement released early Saturday, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) outlined a
series of complaints to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after arriving in Rabat from
Tangier.
The FSF said Morocco’s handling of security and accommodation issues has left the team
unsettled, and the problems appeared to intensify once they entered the host city.
Senegal were reportedly unhappy with the original hotel and security arrangements and refused
to train at the technical centre used by Morocco for the tournament.
CAF has since moved the team to a different hotel, but the FSF said they still have not received
satisfactory feedback or guarantees from CAF.
The FSF also accused the host nation of limiting Senegal’s fan presence, claiming their ticket
allocation has been capped at fewer than 3,000 in a stadium that holds 69,500.
The statement called on CAF and the local organising committee to ensure fairness and equal
treatment, warning that such tactics undermine the spirit of competition.
Senegal’s complaints echo earlier concerns raised in the tournament, with South Africa’s coach
Hugo Broos also criticising Morocco’s handling of facilities during the group stages.
