SILVA RED CARD DOOMS CITY AS REAL MADRID STRIKE AGAIN.
Manchester City saw their Champions League hopes collapse after captain Bernardo
Silva’s first-half red card paved the way for Real Madrid to seal another knockout
blow.
Trailing 3-0 from the first leg, City’s slim comeback hopes were effectively ended
when Silva handled Vinicius Junior’s effort on the line, conceding a penalty and
being sent off.
Vinicius made no mistake from the spot, later adding a second to complete the job.
Despite chances for Erling Haaland and Rodri, City were repeatedly denied by
Thibaut Courtois, whose key saves kept Real firmly in control.
Haaland briefly gave the hosts hope before half-time, but the numerical
disadvantage proved decisive as Real eased through, eliminating Pep Guardiola’s
side for a third straight season.
