SIMEONE URGES DISCIPLINE, FLICK DEMANDS FAITH AHEAD OF COPA DELREY SEMI-FINAL.
Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, has urged his players to stay disciplined
as they prepare to defend a four-goal advantage against FC Barcelona in the Copa
del Rey semi-final.
Simeone described Barcelona as “one of the most competitive sides in LaLiga and in
Europe” and warned his team must remain focused throughout the match. He also
highlighted the danger posed by winger Lamine Yamal, saying the teenager is
“particularly dangerous” and must be forced into uncomfortable areas.
Meanwhile, Hansi Flick, coach of Barcelona, insisted his side still believes in
completing a comeback.
“We are four goals behind, and we have to make the impossible possible. That is the
objective,” Flick said. “It’s not easy. However, we will not give up.”
Flick called for defensive solidity and belief in attack, adding that keeping a clean
sheet is crucial while aiming to score in both halves of the game.
He also acknowledged the absence of striker Robert Lewandowski, saying the team
must manage without him but remain competitive.
