Unai Simón delivered a standout performance as Athletic Club held Champions League holders PSG to a hard-fought 0-0 draw at San Mamés.
Athletic came into the match on a poor European run, but the home crowd drove them on, and their disciplined pressing kept PSG uncomfortable throughout.
Both teams lacked sharpness in the final third, with key attackers missing on each side.
Simón was central to Athletic’s resilience, producing a series of crucial saves. He denied Senny Mayulu just before half-time, stopped another big chance early in the second period, and later pushed away an effort from Warren Zaïre-Emery.
Bradley Barcola hit the bar from the rebound, but the Spain international stood firm again late on, saving from Fabián Ruiz before Yuri Berchiche cleared the follow-up off the line.
Athletic offered little going forward but showed real commitment to protect their clean sheet. PSG failed to score in a Champions League away match for the first time since November 2024 but remain third in the league-phase table, while Athletic sit 28th.
