Afrobeats singer Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has dismissed claims that fellow music star Burna Boy once gave him N600,000 during a period of financial difficulty.
Skales described the story as false and fabricated, attributing the rumour to an overzealous Burna Boy fan on X (formerly Twitter). According to the singer, the claim had no basis and was created to stir unnecessary controversy.
Speaking in a recent interview on the Adesope Live show, Skales revealed that he was deeply disappointed by the narrative and decided to confront the source directly. He said he reached out to the fan, identified as Benny, to understand the reason behind the false claim.
“There was a time I had to reach out to a Burna Boy fan on Twitter, I think his name is Benny or something. I asked him what I had done to him to warrant the hate he exhibits towards me,” Skales said. “He created a fake news that there was a time that I was broke and Burna Boy helped me with N600,000. That never happened.”
The singer used the opportunity to advise his colleagues in the entertainment industry to be mindful of misinformation spread by overly enthusiastic fans. He stressed the importance of direct communication to clear misunderstandings, rather than allowing false narratives to create tension between artists.
Skales’ remarks have since sparked conversations online about fan culture and the impact of unverified claims on relationships within the music industry.
