Liverpool manager Arne Slot played down his side’s lack of cutting edge after being forced to cope without key attackers in their draw away to Fulham.
The Reds were missing top scorer Hugo Ekitike, who travelled to London with the squad but was ruled out after an MRI scan, as well as record signing Alexander Isak.
Cody Gakpo led the line in their absence and scored what looked like a decisive goal, having earlier found the net only for it to be ruled out for offside.
Liverpool were noticeably less threatening without Ekitike, but Slot insisted his team created enough chances given their limited attacking options.
“I would love to create more, but if you play with the amount of midfielders we play with one attacker against the 5-4-1 of Fulham in an away game, I don’t know if you can expect us to create chance after chance,” Slot said.
“But overall I think we created enough chances to win the game and we did very well by limiting them to maybe one, one-and-a-half chances.”
Slot acknowledged he would find little sympathy after heavy summer spending, but maintained his side’s performance was solid under the circumstances.
