Liverpool manager Arne Slot lauded his team’s “outstanding” second-half performance as they battled to a 1-1 draw against title rivals Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Forest struck early through Chris Wood in the eighth minute, but Liverpool’s Diogo Jota came off the bench to equalize in the 66th minute, heading in Kostas Tsimikas’ corner seconds after their introduction.

Despite dominating the final stages, Liverpool were denied a winner by stellar saves from Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels and a goal-line clearance by Ola Aina.

“Second half was outstanding. Few teams can create so many chances against such a defensively strong opponent,” Slot said. “We showed character coming from behind.”

Forest’s spirited display extended their remarkable season, moving them to second place in the Premier League standings, while Liverpool remain in control of the title race despite back-to-back draws.

Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo commended his side’s work ethic: “The second half was tough, but I’m proud of how the players ran and fought.”
