Arne Slot has called for a positive atmosphere at Anfield on Sunday as Liverpool prepare to lift the Premier League trophy but the manager remains undecided on whether Trent Alexander-Arnold will feature in the finale against Crystal Palace.

The full-back, who recently confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the season amid strong links to Real Madrid, was booed by sections of the Anfield crowd during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal on May 11.

Slot has since backed the England international and urged fans to show their appreciation.

“This should be a day everyone enjoys,” Slot said on Friday. “Everyone in the stadium deserves to be there, including Trent. He’s been part of a successful season and successful years here. I trust our fans will deliver again, like they did against Tottenham.”

Liverpool clinched the title with a 5–1 thrashing of Spurs last month and will celebrate their first league crown in 35 years in front of a sell-out crowd.

Former manager Jürgen Klopp is expected to be in attendance, while Palace fans will also be in good spirits after their side secured a historic FA Cup win, the club’s first major trophy.

Slot admitted he doesn’t yet know if Liverpool can build a legacy of sustained success. “Many have won the league, but not many have done it in back-to-back seasons.

You need an elite mentality for that,” he said, highlighting Mohamed Salah as an example.

Salah, currently the league’s top scorer with 28 goals, is among the frontrunners for the Ballon d’Or.

“A lot of hopes for Salah to win,” Slot added. “He’s had great seasons before, but this one stands out. We won the league, and his numbers speak for themselves.”
